Vacationing At Home
If you are like most people, you vacation in other states and miss the fun things that are in your hometown or nearby!
It is sometimes embarrassing to be asked if you have been to a tourist attraction in your own town, and you have to admit that you haven’t even been there. You probably pass by it frequently, but you never visit.
It is sad how we ignore the exciting attractions right around us in favor of going out of town.
I am sure that you can think of places that are around where you live, but you have never even visited. Think about where you live and make a list of uncharted territory that you have not had the pleasure of visiting.
Everyone needs a break from their daily life. Even a short break will make a big difference in your stress level and it does not have to cost a great deal. Try one of the short trips around your home. You may be surprised by how much joy and relaxation it can give you without the long ride!
Contact your local Chamber of Commerce. They will be able to help you find new and different activities for you to do and places for you to visit. You may be surprised to find places that you hadn’t even thought about! Check the Chamber of Commerce’s in adjoining towns, too. You might be surprised by what you discover!
Use the internet as a resource for you to learn about your own town and adjoining towns. Many small towns have their own website sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and they will have activities listed that the city or town offers!
If you want to spend the night away, find a bed and breakfast that is located close by and check them out. Having someone else to cook and clean for you will give you that vacation feeling and will instantly make you feel more relaxed. You may even be lucky enough to get some new recipes while you are there!
Check your local yellow pages to see if they offer bus tours to nearby tourist attractions. You may be surprised by how inexpensive these trips are and how much fun they can be for your entire family. These trips are made for maximum enjoyment of their guests and you don’t have to worry about driving!
A weekend getaway may be the cure for your work week blues. Why not try a fun mini-break and visit some of the local tourist attractions? You will be glad you did!
