The Most Elegant Luxury Train Travel In The World
How would you enjoy going back into time, to experience luxury train travel? There was a time when the elite was catered to, by elegant train carriages that were like 5 star hotels placed on wheels. You will not only see some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet going by your windows, but the most variety of scenic landscapes, as well.
The only thing you have to do to make it happen, is schedule your trip on Rovos Rail, a private rail company in South Africa. It matters not, if your journey is for a couple of days or a couple of weeks, this is going to be a memory that will be at the top of all your remembrances of holidays and vacations from your entire life.
There is a luxury train motif that is of deep glossy wood that is so exquisite, you might only expect to see it in a fine hotel. The furnishings & decor, hark back to a bygone era, and create an atmosphere of supreme elegance & sophistication in the Dining, Observation and Lounge cars.
You will not being seeing, airplane or bus style seating on the Pride of South Africa. You are going to settle into wingtip chairs and deep comfortable couches. Every passenger has their own suite, as well, which comfortably accommodate couples or singles.
Double beds and two twin beds are available in all three options of room accommodations. The entire train is climate controlled, but windows can be opened if you choose fresh air. Every suite has full bathroom facilities, including a shower, but the Royal Suites also offer a vintage Victorian tub. (Bubble bath, anyone?)
Five star dining is available in the dining car for all three meals, which are served promptly, and are announced by a gong. Meals are served once, but room service is available 24 hours a day. Dinner in the elegant dining cars are formal. Jackets and ties are required.
The carriages are from the 1930’s, restored to full glory, and better. They include the modern conveniences of air conditioning, heating, and have electrical receptacles for hair dryers and and shavers. However, modern technology is only allowed in your room.
No laptops or cell phones should be in the public areas. After all, this is a trip back into time. Cell phone reception is spotty, at best, and no wifi for internet access is provided. This is a vacation designed to break you free, temporarily, of those technological chains that bind you.
Your locomotive may be powered by electricity, diesel or steam. There is no doubt that Rovos is at the very top of luxury train travel.
