It is the shallow depth and no undertow that makes it a swimmers heaven or the perfect place to get started with a new water sport.
It’s not only the beach itself that pulls out of the city or foreign visitors. The Lovers Key State Recreation Area is an escapade worth waiting for. There are four barrier islands that create this park, and it's easy to catch a glimpse of West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins, and bald eagles while sunbathing, swimming and shelling along the beaches. Hiking fans are sure to be pleased with what they find on nearby Black Island. So will people who like to bike or spend some time with other active sports.
And after a day of swimming and relaxing on the beach you will find a great number of Fort Myers Beach restaurants where you can stop and get a bite to eat.
