Rome Tourism
Rome is a beautiful place; cultural, vibrant and romantic and with such a line up of cultural events in these coming months, there has never been a better time to visit the city. With so many attractions however, it may prove difficult to decide on exactly which ones you want to attend. This is why I have come up with a list of what I consider to be, ‘the must see events’ of the months to come. I will certainly be attending and staying in one of the beautiful Rome apartments and advise everyone reading this blog to do the same.
In September, the annual International Urban Theatre Festival returns and what’s great is that it’s completely free. The ‘Festival Internazionale del Teatro Urbano’ transforms the streets of Rome into urban theatre scenes. Every corner of Rome will be bustling with dramatic events and people will flood the streets in order to take part. The first day of the festival is said to be the best and is dedicated to young performers and alternative theatre. In addition to providing endless days of entertainment, the festival aims to combat the run down areas of the city and to raise awareness of social problems. The event takes place in the Abraxas Theatre. For more information on the event, visit their home page. http://www.abraxa.it/
The 6th of September is a date you HAVE to mark on your calendar. The 6th of September is a date you HAVE to be in Rome for. Why, I hear you ask. Well, on the 6th of September (if you hadn’t quite got the date), Madonna will be performing at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The pop queen’s ‘sticky and sweet’ tour will be coming to town to dazzle you all with the tracks from her new album, ‘Hard Candy’. Madonna needs no introduction, her shows are legendary. So, you know what to do, get on the phone and buy your tickets now (prices starting from 69euros).
As a bit of an ‘off the wall’ alternative to the above events, you could always attend the blessing of the cars, held every March Outside the Santa Francesca Romana Church, by the Coliseum. People bring transport of all kinds to be blessed in order to have luck and safe travels in the forthcoming year. Not only do private owners bring their vehicles to be blessed, but Rome’s entire public transport system is blessed as well. This surely makes Rome transport one of the safest in the world; one more reason for you to visit. Make sure not to spend too much time in your Apartments in Rome. Although most Apartments Rome are certainly worth it.
