Rome This Year
If parents are interested in culture almost every holiday becomes a bore for kids. They start grouching and the relaxing holiday is over immediately. But not in Rome! The Italian capital offers numerous possibilities for kids and this way they get to learn a lot about the history and culture of Rome; and all without grouching.
Have your children seen the Asterix films? Then they will know all about Julius Cäsar. On the “On Cäsar´s traces through Rome” tour, you and your children will follow the biographic stages of Cäsar´s life. See Largo Argentina where Cäsar was assassinated and go to the Petersdom to have a look ot his urn. Of course, a walk to the capitol is also a must as this is where Cäsar´s coronation took place. Perfect! Your kids will learn about the history of a cartoon character they already know, and you will get to learn about the culture of Rome; all while having a good time.
If Asterix is something your kids really love, then you should take them along to the ‘Asterix in Rome’ tour. Here you will see the Forum Romanum, Zirkus Maximus and much more. At the Forum Romanum you will hear a lot of myths and legends that are sure to make your kids uncharacteristically curious.
Not far away from Rome, there is Tuscia. Here, you and your family can visit the Parce dei Mostri which is a park full of phantasy figures and has acquired the nickname of “park of the monsters”. Here you will find extraordinary sculptures and your kids will love them. They are magical and enormous, but not too scary. The park is structured like a labyrinth and so there’s something exciting around every corner.
There are also a lot of other parks to visit. Take your bike or skates and make the most of the open space. The enormous variety of parks gives your children the opportunity to run around and play. While they enjoy, you can take advantage of the peace and tranquillity that the Rome parks provide.
Many museums and public transport systems offer free entrance to children. If they’re hungry, they won’t say no to some pasta or pizza. Or what about some original Italian ice cream?
Rome is a very cultural and interesting city. If you want to experience Rome´s culture without grouching kids, book your Rome apartment (Unterkunft Rom) in advance. There are plenty of Hotels Rom and accommodation (Ferienwohnungen Rom) in the city centre. See Rome through children’s eyes and enjoy the special flair the city offers you.
