Philadelphia

Travel to Pennsylvania

Philadelphia is rich in American history and culture. As the seat of American government during the first crucial decades of American independence, Philadelphia was America's greatest city. From Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 proclaiming American independence, to Penn's Landing, named after the influential and charismatic governor William Penn, Philadelphia has much to teach visitors about the early years of America. At the same time, Philadelphia is a bustling city with modern attractions and entertainment.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is one of the original Thirteen Colonies that founded the United States of America. It is known as the Keystone State, which is appropriate given its central location among the original colonies. It is bordered on the north and northeast by New York, on the east, across the Delaware River by New Jersey, on the south by Delaware, Maryland, and West Virginia, on the west by Ohio, and on the northwest by Lake Erie.

Pennsylvania Family Vacation Spot

Located on a private lake in the Northern Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Woodloch Pines Resort in Hawley, Pennsylvania is a family owned resort voted Favorite Family Vacation Spot by the readers of Better Homes and Gardens. Open year-round, the resort offers an amazing feast of activities from waterskiing, sail boating, and bumper boats in summer to snow tubing, ice skating and snowmobiling in the winter.

Kids of all ages love the go carts, batting cages, pool water slide and hayrides. Parents enjoy the Jacuzzis, massages for themselves and the all-inclusive rates that are difficult to find at U.S. resorts. Prices vary depending on room selection, time of year and number of people, but a family of four can purchase a four-night package that includes room and 12 meals for under $350 per night.

NASCAR Racing in Pennsylvania

Pocono Raceway
Pocono Raceway is unique in that all three corners are different from each other. The builders modeled each turn from a different track. The corners are connected by two long straightaways and one shorter straightaway. Since 1990, the racetrack has seen many changes at Pocono Raceway. They have spent approximately $3 million every year. New crash walls, completely new paving, removed all the old garages and ¾ mile track, completely re-graded and cut and filled the old Garage Area. Built a one of a kind new Garage Area completely different and second to none. Pocono Raceway has the biggest and most fan friendly Paddock Area so that fans are only 56 feet away from the cars. Pocono has one of the most accessible pit areas for getting autographs from your favorite drivers.

Built a 150-site motor home park for the participants, 124 of which have water, sewer and electricity, the only NASCAR Sprint Cup track to have all this except for Talladega. If you plan on camping in the infield, take everything along you will need for the whole weekend, as there is nowhere to buy supplies inside or anywhere near the track and there are no passes out of the infield.

Hershey ParkHershey - Hershey Park
Everyone loves chocolate, especially Hershey chocolate. Now, you and your family can take a trip to the Hershey Park, which has the sweet smell of rich, gooey chocolate everywhere you go.

Your family can take a nine-minute ride through chocolate world, which shows you the process of making Hershey chocolate. However, the park itself offers 50 rides, four roller coasters, five waterslides, and a toboggan company with four-row carousel that covers 90 acres.

After enjoying the thrill of the rides, you can walk along the main street to shop or grab something delicious to eat. If you get tired of walking through the vast park, you can always use the inexpensive trolley service.
