Travel to North Carolina
Charlotte is North Carolina’s largest city, and continues to experience rapid growth, in large part due to the banking & finance industry. Charlotte is now the second largest banking center in the United States (after New York), and is home to Bank of America and Wachovia.
Cultural Attractions in Charlotte include the Afro-American Cultural Center, Discovery Place, Spirit Square, the soon to be built NASCAR Hall of Fame, the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, The Mint Museums, the Charlotte Museum Of History, Levine Museum of the New South, and the Wing Haven Gardens. Soon the Betchler Art Museum and Knight Theater in Uptown Charlotte will open, expanding the art venues in Charlotte.
North Carolina is also a center of American motorsports, with more than 80% of NASCAR racing teams and related industries located in the Piedmont region. The largest race track in North Carolina is the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina where the NASCAR Sprint Cup holds three major races each year. NASCAR recently began construction on the NASCAR Hall of Fame slated to open in late 2008 in Uptown Charlotte. Many of NASCAR’s most famous driver dynasties, the Pettys, Earnhardts, Allisons, Jarretts and Waltrips all live within an hour of Charlotte.
Cherokee, North Carolina isn’t far from the Great Smoky Mountains park in Gatlinburg, TN which offers the non-stop casino action of Harrah’s Cherokee Smoky Mountain Casino.
Even though you may be planning a family vacation, there are lots of activities for children to do in the Cherokee area that can enable mom and dad some grown-up time in the casino. Teens love the extensive white water rafting and tubing in and around Cherokee.
