If you like the sense of adventure and would love to discover the beauty of nature with your family, one of the most exciting and affordable family vacation is definitely camping. A camping trip is a great first step for some quality time with your family. RV parks, RV resorts and campgrounds make great destinations for an affordable family vacation.

Accommodation.
Although a complete camping experience involves getting away from all the technological gadgets of modern life, this doesn’t mean you will have no decent conditions at all. Most RV parks include a grill, fire-pit and picnic table, as well as shower and general bathroom facilities. Others provide extensive facilities, such as heated pools, cable TV and wireless Internet access. Apart from pitched tents, there are also cabins, cottages and lodges available.

Activities.
Going camping is extremely appealing for the kids, too. There are tons of enjoyable activities available on camping holidays, both for children and adults. Most RV parks feature lakes for swimming, boating and fishing, hiking trials, basketball courts and playground facilities. Many include such activities as, such as nature crafts, free movies or ice cream socials for the kids. You can bring along your board games, bike and balls & gloves too. On a camping vacation you will have plenty of time to play with the kids, then enjoy a beautiful sunset and watch for shooting stars.

Pricing.
Going camping is not only fun and exciting, but also probably the most affordable family vacation you can plan. The cost for four family members is less than $1000, including the cost for buying new gear (tent, sleeping bags, cooler, camp stove). The new gear should cost somewhere around $600, while the campground fee is usually less than $200 for a whole week. You should expect to spend another $200 for groceries. If you already have gear, the cost for a camping vacation is even less.

If you want to test the waters, you can start by staying in a cabin or RV rental. The price ranges from $30 to $100 a night. If you all enjoy the experience, you can buy gear for the next year.

More and more people each year choose camping for an affordable family vacation. Recent research has shown that about 70 percent of all the active campers went on a camping vacation with their family at least once and 50 percent went with the extended family, including their children. 60 percent of all the active campers are already grandparents and take their grandchildren along when camping. The increasing popularity of camping proves that it is not only the most affordable family vacation you can imagine, but also fun and exciting for both children and adults.

In this day and age of rising gas prices, rising food prices, and so much inflation everywhere that it makes you wonder why people would invest tens of thousands of dollars in RV’s that get about four miles to the gallon and then also suck up a ton of battery power along the way!

Refrigerators on RV’s require power and even then they sometimes don’t keep the food very well. Campground and RV parks charge a small mint to use their sites and then there are the extra charges for connecting to power, water, and use of the septic emptying facilities. So why are people still buying RV’s? The answer to that lies not in what it costs to own and operate an RV but rather what RV’s offer to those people that are lucky enough to be able to afford one.

Symbol of Freedom

The rising cost of everything certain is widening the gap between the haves and the have nots when it comes to RV’s and who can still afford to own and operate them. But for those people that can afford them then RV’s are the ultimate escape and the ultimate symbol of freedom. For short periods of time you can get into a vehicle that is the size of the first floor of your house and drive to anywhere you want in the country without feeling like you have ever really left your home.

You can decorate your RV so that it looks like home and even bring pieces of home with you on long trips. You can even bring your pets with you on your RV if you wanted to and there isn’t anything anyone can say about it. RV’s are expensive for sure but the freedom that they offer to the people that own them is more than worth the expense and that feeling of seeing the country without leaving your living room is pretty nice as well.

At the Game

Not everyone gets involved in RV’s to travel the country. Some buy their RV just to go around the corner and bring their own party house to the tailgate party before the football game. In National Football League cities like Kansas City, Green Bay, and Buffalo fans with RV’s arrive days before the game is to start so they can get a good spot for their RV and then spend some time living in the stadium parking lot.

They mark their territory with their own special combinations of flags on top of their camper and then invite their friends and family over for a tailgate party in style before the game begins. To be honest, some of these college crowds really know how to tailgate with their RV’s as well and it has become quite the American thing to do.

Owning a huge RV, or a small RV, is a little piece of freedom for a lot of people. For those that have never had the chance to own then you should try renting an RV just for a little while and see what that feeling of freedom is all about.

RV salvage is a great way to find quality used RVs at almost half the price. RVs can be very expensive and an awesome way to purchase a RV, and not go broke, is RV salvage yards. Some RVs can cost as much as $194,000, but other used RVs can cost as little as $8,000. RV salvage yards usually offer quality RV and RV parts at a fraction of the price.

How good are used RVs?
Most people think that because an RV is used, it is no longer a quality item. In fact, used RV’s can be just as functional as new ones. RVs at RV salvage yards can be a good alternative rather than buying a very expensive new RV. At most used RV dealerships they have thorough inspections for any major problems.

These problems can include dents and dings or even major problems such as brake or engine problems. If there is a major problem such as these most dealerships will either break the RV down for parts or decide not to sale the RV. Some dealerships sell RVs that are up to 30 years old, this means you are able to find almost any RV part you need. Most used RV parts are sturdier than most parts you find in catalogs today.

Are there many RV salvage yards?
RV salvage yards are very popular and common in the United States. Every state in the continental U.S. has a few major RV salvage yards and possibly even some smaller, locally-owned yards. The major companies have a greater selection of RVs, but the local companies can have a better price (for lack of competition). RV salvage yards range from Arizona to Minnesota, finding a dealership to purchase your dream RV or your much needed RV part isn’t a difficult job.

Do RV salvage yards recycle?
Sometimes RV salvage yards will also break down RVs for all the recyclable material on the RV. This helps decrease the high demand for brand new parts, and helps prevent already over-flowing landfills from becoming fuller. This is done by purchasing rebuilt RV appliances or even purchasing a rebuilt RV. If you own an old RV its possible to sell it to one of the RV salvage yards that helps recycle these RVs; this can help with CO2 emissions and prevent other pollutants caused by RVs being dumped in a landfill or another inappropriate place.

Are you and the family are headed out on vacation. Do you fly or drive?

How about a recreational vehicle? With RVs, you and your family can travel the country in style and comfort; almost as if you were taking your home with you. And if you’re worried about driving something so big, no need to be. RVs are just as easy to drive as a full-size pickup truck; with only backing up being a bit difficult.

If you’ve been thinking about taking an RV for your next vacation, but haven’t quite made up your mind yet, here’s the top reasons why RVs make the very best mode of transportation for family vacations.

More Room
No more worrying about cramped leg room, RVs provide you and your family (no matter how large) with all the leg room you need. If you’ve ever traveled with kids then you will be able to appreciate the fact that you won’t have to stop so everyone can stretch their legs every half hour. Not only that, but RVs have beds (and sometimes even separate bedrooms) built right in; so when the kids get cranky, they can take a nap in comfort.

No Need to Stop for Food
RVs have a kitchenette built right in, complete with refrigerator and stove. So instead of having to stop at restaurants and truck stops every few hours to eat, you’ll be able to just grab a sandwich or snack from your own refrigerator.

No Hotel Expenses
When you travel in RVs, you don’t have to worry about making hotel reservations, or finding a hotel with available rooms when you reach your destination. When you travel in a recreational vehicle, you carry your hotel with you wherever you go. Need to take a break from driving? Simply pull off the highway into any rest stop, and you’ve got a ready made hotel room, complete with bed and shower, to help you get refreshed for the next leg of your trip.

And Last But Not Least
Anyone who’s ever travel with a child (or four) will appreciate this, the most powerful reason to use RVs as your family’s mode of transportation – on board bathrooms! There’s nothing so familiar to a parent’s ears as the old “I gotta go!” that we hear so often on a road trip. With RVs that’s simply not an issue anymore, with an onboard bathroom that can be used even when rolling down the road!
